Vermeer is noted for using a limited palette of colors: gray, ochre, burnt siena, yellow, blue, and touches of red. I borrowed a technique from cinema (which was used extensively in the movie "Girl with a Pearl Earring"), emhasizing these colors in my roombox. The walls are a light gray, the cabinet ochre, the door dark blue, the jacket with ermine trim yellow, a chair burnt siena. This emphasizes Vermeer's colors and unifies the scene.
