"Vermeer pinating 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'"

Vermeer

When I discovered "The Milkmaid" doll ( a character from Vermeer's painting by the same name) on Fern Vasi's table at the Philadelphia Miniaturia, I knew immediately she was the doll artist I was seeking to create Griet and Vermeer. She informed me that Vermeer left no known self-portraits (a fact I verified in my research), so we used our imaginations to create him. Fern's portrayal of Griet is so perfect, she matches the painting in every detail. Her delicate hands rest on her lap and her skirt falls in graceful folds. The headdress is astounding; the color is exact and the fabric looks so realistic you want to reach out and touch it.
