"Vermeer painting 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'"

William (Bill) Kubesh of Minneapolis, a noted miniature artisan, created the painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring" for me. I believe his masterpiece is as good as Vermeer's. I researched easels of that time to create the ones in the scene.

Since Vermeer painted his masterpieces on pieces of linen and strung them on a frame, I asked Bill to make his version look like it had been done that way.

It is believed that Vermeer started with a black ground and added the other colors on top of that. I asked Bill to leave the background black where the earring would have been painted, so that he could be adding it at the moment the viewer "entered his studio."

"Painting and Griet"
This view shows the amazing similarity between the painting by Bill Kubesh and the doll by Fern Vasi. I am indebted to both artisans for their amazing talent. It was so exciting to see the project come together with everything looking just as I imagined it!
