Yellow Satin Jacket
|
To make the studio look realistic, I included touches from other Vermeer paintings. The yellow satin jacket with ermine trim appears several times in Vermeer's work. Musical instruments, such as lutes and guitars, also play a prominent role. A wooden painter's mannequin was used in the movie to show the position of the model. The pigment-preparation table illustrated how paints were made in Vermeer's day. Under the table, you can see the Delft tiles that might have been used as baseboards. I included some Delft plates on a shelf, since they were produced there and would probably appear in most households. |
